04 May Spyced launches
I am incredibly excited to announce that after so much hard work (blood, spice and tears….?), Spyced is finally go! I have really taken my time during the recipe development phase here; I have been determined that each recipe should be as high quality, user-friendly and as low energy as possible. This has meant that some recipes didn’t make the grade, which has felt like treading water at times but I hope my ruthless attitude to this shows in the quality of the finished kits! The final winners have been recipe tested to perfection by a team of willing curry testers (I asked for absolute honesty and absolute honesty is very much what I got. Thanks team!).
Our recipes
The recipes I have finally arrived at (with the help of the testers!) are a mixture of classics and exciting less familiar Indian-subcontinental flavours. Drum roll please… in no particular order, here are the five final Spyced curry kit gift recipes: Andhra (fairly hot stir fried dish from the South East corner of India), Makhani (classic cardamom and bay spiced creamy butter chicken), Vindaloo (a spiky heat with vinegar and lashings of garlic), Rogan Josh (warm, comforting classic) and Karahi (quick, easy, incredibly tasty!).
The sari bags themselves have been lovingly crafted individually by my wonderful seamstress (and step-Mum), Diana, who has put her all into ensuring the quality of the finish and that each little bag has something to identify it from the next! Luckily for me, this lovely lady is an absolute expert with the delicate, silky and sheer nature of this tricky fabric.
Get cooking
When I first developed Spyced as a concept, one of the most important themes for me was considering the planet and the impact of cooking on us, as individuals, both financially and as a catharsis. I’ll level with you, the Spyced curry kit recipes will take slightly longer than 30 minutes to cook, due to chopping, grabbing ingredients from the fridge etc, however I really believe they are simple to follow and enjoy, and my recipe testing team tells me they’ve all achieved the required results in under 30 minutes (or bang on!) as planned. I can’t wait to hear the feedback from paying customers in the months to come!
Thanks so much for reading and for your support with Spyced. I would absolutely love to hear any feedback, suggestions or just to have a general chat about curry with anyone who is as excited by Indian subcontinental food as I am, so please do drop me a line at hello@spyced.co.uk!
